  The group consists of Larry Mullen Jr with drums, Adam Clayton on the Bass, Self named “The Edge” as guitarist, keyboardist and vocals as well, and the famous Bono as lead vocalist and guitarist.  Within four years of being together and waxing strong in their skills they signed to Island Records and released their debut album “Boy”.  Although they sold their records well they were much more triumphant as a live act.  They later went on to create new albums such as “The Joshua Tree” in 1987.  This album was a great hit and was described by “Rolling Stone Magazine” as the albume that moved their stature “from heroes to superstars”.

  U2 has released many albums, 12 to be specific.  Among popular music they are one of the most commercially successful groups of all time.  They have sold over 145 million records and have a total of 22 Grammy Awards which is a record.  Can you imagine winning 22 Grammy Awards?  Isn’t that unprecedented and amazing?  Throughout their whole career they have be huge proponents of many human rights and philanthropic causes, some including Bono’s DATA campaign, Product Red, ONE Campaign and Amnesty International.
