   Finally a blast from the past!  Memphis, which takes place in the 1950’s during the beginning of rock and roll.  Come and join the crowd with this knock out hit during a time of deep segregation and bias but also the birth of a new age in Americas history.  Experience the sights and sounds that is called Memphis!

    In the 1950’s Huey Calhoun who is an employee of a department store gets fired from his job.  He begins working as a disk jockey for a local radio station.  Later on he falls in love with a black singer named Felicia.  Memphis tells the story of their love but also their avoidance of being caught in public.  Huey begins to place the so called “black music” on his radio station and the ratings score higher than ever.  But their fate changes when the two of them get caught kissing in public.

   Memphis features the original story by Joe Dipietro (Now Change, You’re Perfect, I love You) with the directing of Cristopher Ashley.  The cast features Derrick Baskin, James Monroe Iglehart, J. Bernard Calloway, and Tony nominee Michael McGrath.
