  Hair is a Tony award winning American musical that is a celebration of life, a love letter to freedom, and a passionate cry for hope and change.  “Hair” came from Greenwhich Village’s Off Broadway Public Theater.  This is a couple blocks off from the real hippies trying to change the world in Washington Square.

  “Hair” really has no specific plot; it is simply a revue, showing practically every aspect of the counterculture in a variety of musical styles, dance, and stage effects.  It includes drugs, pollution, civil rights, the Vietnam War, astronauts, astrology, hairstyles, Shakespear, and the Waverly movie theater on Sixth Avenue, not to mention sex.

  $500,000 in tickets were sold the day after “Hair” opened on March 31^st.  Producers even gave 10 percent of their money back as a sign of good confidence in the show’s long-term appeal.  Since then tickets have sold sometimes $250,000 dollars a day. 

  Many people in Broadway said, “We felt at the time that “hair” would fill a void on Broadway, in that it had great pop rock appeal, and “Rent” and Spring Awakening” had left the scene.”

  When Hair first came out it didn’t do well with people over the age of 50.  And now the people who saw it the first time are coming again, many of which are over 50.  So its now being a musical for all ages, young or old.

  It’s outstanding that many investors saw investing in Hair as a risk.  It is now seen that investing in “hair” is a very safe investment.  They will soon recoup the total original investment.
